Relentless Hope for Royal Park School
Hyde Park continues it's campaign to see Royal Park School reunited with the community. The old Victorian building is waiting patiently for the renewal, once promised by the local Council in 2004.
This weekend has seen the derelict local treasure, once again brought to life with creative activities that have included a photography workshop, jumble sale, arts & crafts, and circus performance.
Campaigner Heather Kennedy talks to me about her hopes for the future.
"The aim is to see this glorious building returned to it's community. Creative contributions from a wide range of skilled locals, has brought people together by providing activities for the young, old and families. The once promised reopening, now leaves people feeling like they have no voice. We want to change that. It would be such a shame to see it gone. Whether the outcome of the court case is positive or negative on Monday (23rd Nov), we will not give up!"
Broken promises and threat of demolition, keeps Royal Park School campaigners motivated to hit the ground running. A united front from squatters, the local community, and press coverage, continues to bring hope. The best way to show your support is to visit Royal Park School, write a letter to the Council, or if you would like to facilitate a creative workshop, email Heather Kennedy to get involved.
