BBC seeks Northern Digital Talent
The BBC has launched a fresh opportunity for new and established digital agencies and producers in the North.
As the move to Salford in 2011 approaches, the BBC Children’s television department is looking to commission four projects that will total £500,000. @North will encourage and support the development and delivery of interactive content for children.
Commenting on @North, Peter Salmon said:
“This is an exciting new concept and there is real business up for grabs, with CBBC and CBeebies commissions to be won by creative organisations working on interactive media across the North of England. There is some great creative work going on in the digital sector across the North, and we want to work in partnership to develop new and exciting multiplatform content for our young audience.”
The new project will be led by BBC Children’s and see Future, Media and Technology (FM&T) work in new collaborative ways with digital agencies and regional partners Northwest Vision and Media, Northern Film and Media, and Screen Yorkshire.
Project Leader, Mario Dubois comments:
"@North is one of a number of initiatives, which allows the BBC to be more open whilst working with creative companies from across the North of England. It hopes to enable and support increased creativity, collaboration in a real and tangable way; that contributes to a closer connection with our audiences as well as increasing the supplier base across the North."
Introductory workshops to BBC @North will be held during January 2010. Interested in attending? Respond to the invitation by email to Mario Dubois - Project Lead, @North on mario.dubois@bbc.co.uk.
