Elena Toselli, an Italian MA Events and Exhibitions Management student at BCU, hosted a free screening of Vittorio De Sica's motion-picture "Bicycle Thieves" at The Cross Pub and Restaurant in Moseley, Birmingham.

She decided to put up the event to test a British audience for her upcoming Creative Enterprise module's assignment.

The event was quite successful and 35 people showed up. It was also sponsored on some websites such as Screen West Midlands and on Film Birmingham.

The movie "Bicycle Thieves" is an Italian Neorealism film directed by Vittorio De Sica in 1948 and it is widely recognised as one of the true masterpieces in the history of Cinema. This movie represents the Italian Neorealism style at its best which, taking place in a confused and depressed post-World War II Italy, marked the birth of Italian Cinema.

The movie won an Oscar for the 'best foreign language' film in 1950 and Cesare Zavattini received the nomination for best original screenplay.
