Wild & Wolf wins top gift award
The Bath-based gift company, Wild & Wolf, is a winner in this year's national industry Gift of the Year Awards.
Wild & Wolf, who design and manufacture gifts for the retail market, were winners in the children’s category for their Ladybird Collection Activity Kits, presented in colourful retro-style tins.
The Gift of the Year Awards are run by the Giftaware Association, and recognise the latest, most original and innovatively designed products in the gift industry. There are 16 categories in total. However good the design, entrants also need to demonstrate that their product is commercially viable.
This is Wild & Wolf's second award for the Ladybird Collection, with flasks, mugs, plasters and notebooks winning the Branded Character Category in 2009.
Jon Cameron MD of the company said It’s terrific for us to receive an award for the second year in a row, particularly as these awards are judged by buyers and retailers within the industry. It’s an acknowledgement of the hard work done here by the design and production team.
Wild & Wolf began in 2005 with its Pretty Useful Tools range of floral garden tools. Since then, the company has developed a number of licensed gift ranges featuring familiar brands such as the V&A, Marmite, The Beano, Penguin Books, Celia Birtwell and more recently, Scrabble – the world’s most popular literary board game.
To commemorate the newly acquired Scrabble license, Wild and Wolf sponsored a lion as part of Lions of Bath 2010 (reported by Creative Boom on 19 May). The 6 ft long lion, named Wordsworth, has been decorated with over 6000 wooden Scrabble tiles by the Wild and Wolf team. Wordsworth is now on view outside the Disney Store on Union Street, Bath.
The Ladybird Activity Kits are on sale in gift shops such as Bloomsbury in Bath. RRP: £11.95.
