Wassailing at Willsbridge
People keen to get in touch with nature may be interested in an event scheduled to take place in Bristol this weekend.
On Sunday January 24th, a wassailing event is to be held at Willsbridge Mill and it is being organised by Avon Wildlife Trust.
Getting underway at 14:00 GMT, the free celebration will last for three-and-a-half hours and will culminate in a lantern-lit procession to the Wild Waste Gardens mini orchard.
People will get to splash cider on apple tree roots and tuck toast in the branches.
The day is partly in recognition of the 30th birthday of Avon Wildlife Trust, which is a local charity with more than 17,500 members.
Ruth Worsley from the organisation described wassailing as "magical".
She added: "[It] helps us to reconnect with the natural world and its marvellous seasonal rhythms at a time of year when both wildlife and people need cheering up."
