Pop artist Sir Peter Blake brings art bus to Bath
Sir Peter Blake, the godfather or British pop art, is to ride into Bath aboard his double-decker mobile art gallery to launch a new solo show at the Rostra & Rooksmoor Galleries on 26th February 2010.
Best known for designing the iconic sleeve for The Beatles Sergeant Peppers album, Sir Peter Blake is still much in demand 40 years later. His current work reflects his fascination with popular culture and his new exhibition at the Rostra & Rooksmoor Galleries will feature a mix of original prints, including new releases and rare limited editions. The show runs from 26th February – 22nd March 2010.
On the opening day of the exhibition, Sir Peter will arrive in Bath on his eye-catching double-decker bus, converted into a unique gallery space with balcony and bar. The exterior of the bus, designed by Sir Peter, dazzles with rock and roll pop art style and has already played host to many famous visitors incluiding Kevin Spacey, Helen Mirren and David Tennant.
The bus will be parked at the top of Milsom Street from 2pm on Friday 26th February. Entrance to the bus is free, but numbers are limited so bus passes must be requested in advance or on the day from Rostra & Rocksmoor Galleries.
