Christmas shares 4 letters with Cheltenham

Posted by Holly Knowlman in News on Wednesday 2nd December 2009. Tagged with Arts & Crafts.

OK, so braving Cheltenham high street on any given Saturday is usually a pretty brutal experience. And in this oh-so-wintry run up Christmas it doesn't exactly quieten off. And that's before we go into late-night Thursdays.

But we do have the Christmas market, which is rather lovely. Especially the mulled wine stall.

The other thing we have is some awesome local people who are making and selling Christmassy things. In case you feel like going super local this festive season and sourcing your festive cheer from somewhere nearby, here's a list of a few of them. (If you're making things and I've missed you off, let me know and I'll add you on!)

1. Studio Weekend: Christmas Cards

These cards are awesome. A screen printed reindeer in a snazzy xmas jumper print AND you get a jumper print badge all of your   own, so when you get given a horrible jumper on the day you can say 'sorry, it'll clash with my badge'.

2. Vicki Brown, Lilley's Handcrafted Lovelies: Ninja Tree Toppers

Ninjas are pretty much universally recognised as being great. It's pleasing to say (try it... ninjaaaaa), plus they're super tough. And now you can get one to go on the top of your tree. Maybe. If you're quick. These are custom made so if you want your very own ninja I suggest you get in touch with ninja-sculptop supremo Lilley pretty sharpish.

3. Lynn Ede: Cuteness del Cardness

This slice of festive loveliness is available as a card or a print or as a whole load of things. Can I say cute again? I really want to. There's a whole selection of festive snaps available, but this one is totally my favourite. I think I'm feeling whimsical today.

4. Christmas Cupcakes

The Vanilla Pod bakery in Cheltenham make the most delicious cupcakes, probably ever. I speak from personal experience. But how can you improve on perfection? By adding CHRISTMAS of course! Look at the candy canes! Cupcakes can be made to order, or Vanilla Pod can usually be found at the fortnightly farmers market (which is pretty great in itself). It's on a friday ya know.

So there ya go :-) Now there's no excuse not to go local and handmade for Christmas!
