TV film maker and historical author Stewart Binns, is coming to Lyme Regis in Dorset this February to share his knowledge on a three-day creative writing course as well as host a ‘Meet the Author’ lunch. Sharing his knowledge on writing and talking about his fascinating career Stewart has chosen the multiple award-winning Alexandra Hotel for both literary events.

Stewart Binns shares his passion for the area: “I love Dorset and can’t wait to meet those on the three-day intensive creative writing course I’m teaching as well as everyone who comes to the lunch. Set in grounds with views overlooking the Cobb in Lyme Bay, where scenes from ‘The French Lieutenant’s Woman’ were filmed, as well as nearby areas which inspired authors such as John Fowles, Jane Austen, Thomas Hardy, Beatrix Potter and Henry Fielding, I’m sure we’ll be producing the most wonderful literature.”

Once a school teacher specialising in history, Stewart Binns received a lucky break which resulted in a successful career in TV broadcasting. Stewart worked on documentary features and current affairs, including stints on Panorama and QED. During his time as a documentary film maker Stewart won numerous awards, including a Peabody, Grierson, RTA and BAFTA.

Stewart has written many books connected to television series, but following his passion for English history his first novel, ‘Conquest’, set around the events of 1066, was published by Penguin and was the best-selling debut historical novel of 2011. The sequel ‘Crusade’ will be published by Penguin in April 2012 and a third is in the pipeline. Now those aspiring to enter the world of words and fans of Stewart Binns have two unique opportunities to meet him.
