Moments in Time

An exhibition of paintings by Clive Jebbett, ‘Moments in Time’, will open at the Bath Contemporary gallery in February 2012.

A strong sense of familiarity with Clive's paintings is shared through the ambiguity of subject, time and place, which often strikes an emotional connection with its audience.

Not necessarily painted with an intended allegory, Clive Jebbett works with a concentration on the geometry of the composition, the shapes within it, the finish of the texture of the painting's surface and the play of light within the painting. It is his attention to the manipulation of the light and focus of a composition that Clive particularly masters, using these elements as tools to surprise and delight the viewer.

“It is the function of the Artist to evoke the experience of surprised recognition; to show the viewer what he knows, but does not know that he knows” William S. Burroughs
