Mrs Magpie: the Cardiff-based magazine devoted to online shopping
Online shopping is fun n'all, and a very nice way to spend your lunch hour, but sometimes it’s hard to pick your way through the trash and find the really good sites, the best bargains and the things that you never knew you wanted, but you actually, in fact ... do.
That’s where new online magazine MRS MAGPIE comes in handy. The magazine, which is based in Cardiff, is totally devoted to online shopping with sections on fashion, beauty, homes, lifestyle, weddings and food & drink. It’s got a mix of features, product spotlights and voucher codes, all there to make shopping on the web that little bit lovelier.
The magazine was set up last year by Charlotte Laing, the former editor of Welsh glossy WM magazine, and is now thriving.
"When I worked at WM, I was always featuring items that were available to buy online and writing the website addresses, but I thought it would be much easier if readers could just click on a link and be taken straight to the item. That’s when the idea behind Mrs Magpie was born,” says Charlotte.
“Launching my own magazine has been fun, I’ve learnt loads about design, content management and online marketing, and I’m still at the start of the journey really.
“I also love the fact that I seem to be part of a bit of a creative revolution in Cardiff at the moment, with bloggers, designers and independent journalists taking over the media landscape.”
