Join CHAPTER for a weekend of celebrations of Romany culture to mark the close of the fantastically popular Delaine Le Bas exhibition: Witch Hunt. 12th-14th March PROGRAMME OF EVENTS:
FRIDAY 12 MARCH
ART: DELAINE LE BAS: WITCH HUNT Gallery, 10am-8pm. FREE 'Witch Hunt’ is a multimedia Gallery project comprising installation, performance, found objects, textile techniques, and new music. For Chapter, Delaine has created ecclesial structures reflecting the religious dimension of the Witch Hunt, and weaves within them new work which explores the role of language in identifying the 'other'.
MUSIC: DAMIAN LE BAS DJ SET Caffi Bar, 7pm. FREE Enjoy an eclectic music set from celebrated DJ and artist Damian Le Bas, whilst you relax with some food and a drink in the Caffi Bar
FILM: BLACK CAT, WHITE CAT. 8:30pm France/Germany/1998/124mins/15/subtitled/ TICKETED Dir: Emir Kusturica. With Bora Todorovic, Davor Dujmovie Emir Kusturica’s tale of Gypsy life is a riotous mix of farce, romance and crime. Set within a community of gypsies, it tells a story of dodgy deals, family ties, young love and magical occurrences. Zare is a young man in love with the beautiful Ida, but his crooked father, having botched up a black market deal, intends to marry him off to the sister of a powerful gangster - a woman so tiny that her nickname is Ladybird. Set on the banks of the Danube, this colourful comedy is crammed with spectacle, incident and the music of Emir Kusturica’s famous travelling gypsy band.

THEATRE: MARROW BONES BY DAMIAN LE BAS AND CANDIS NERGAARD Media Point, 7pm. FREE / TICKETED 'Marrow Bones' is a new piece of dramatic writing by Romany Theatre Company's Damian James Le Bas and Candis Nergaard. They will be giving a first-ever reading of the piece at Chapter. Romany Theatre Company, under its director Dan Allum, are currently working with the BBC and the Royal Court Theatre to challenge the received view of Britain's Romanies with fresh drama and oral archives generated from within the Traveller community www.romanytheatrecompany.com
