From 7th July until 30th August, Penny Forbes and Kirsty Anderson will be exhibiting their work at Under the Stairs. Penny Forbes's work is inspired by her love of the macabre and the Mexican Day of the Dead, 'Día de los Muertos'. You may have seen her bright and bold screenprinted textiles recently at the Edinburgh Made in the Shade Springtime Jamboree under the name Pegeggleg. Kirsty Anderson was also a vendor at the Made in the Shade Springtime Jamboree. Working under the name of Wooden Tree, Kirsty's work centres on the deconstruction and transformation of found and unwanted textiles – turning the undesirable or discarded into a work that has new life and creates fresh memories. The sourced textiles range from garments and pillowcases to embroidered tablecloths. The work takes it shape in soft pieces like stags, foxes and embroideries.
