Andy Murray is an award winning product designer based in Edinburgh. Originally from Glasgow, Andy moved to Edinburgh to pursue his passion for product design. With highly commended and award winning work over the last 5 years (including a furniture design first prize award from D&AD 2009), a degree in Consumer Product Design and a Masters in Interdisciplinary Design; Andy tackles any project with the outcome always being simple and beautiful.

Andy's new book Made By . . . is an inspiration to make things. Demonstrated through beautiful photographs, simple diagrams and step-by-step instructions, the book outlines how to make attractive personal items from everyday materials (tea towels and cheap fabric glue).

Andy says: 'During a time of austerity, designers have to look at what the consumers need and want from products – functionality without compromising on style.'

The Made By products were well received at New Designers in London (July 2009) and by the ever expanding craft industry. With a growing emphasis on DIY and recycling in every aspect of modern life, Made By will no doubt inspire many people to make simple and attractive products, even if they don’t have a sewing machine at home.

Andy has launched an online shop, Designed By Andy, to sell his ever growing range of products. Additionally, his award winning range of furniture, Sea Defence, will be launched this Summer after a long search to keep the manufacture in the UK and support local industries.

Andy can be found at Andy Murray Design.
