Scottish designer Jo Storie brings catwalk knitwear to yarn lovers everywhere with the launch of her first range of knitting patterns. The newly available designs in the ‘Modern Heritage’ range come directly from the sketchbook of the international designer and can now be purchased by knitters from all over the world.

Based in the Scottish Borders, the former knitwear designer and director for TSE Cashmere; Ballantyne Cashmere; J. Crew and Ann Taylor, has already established a global following. With many eager to get their hands on a Jo Storie original the designer has taken the bold step to offer her patterns to discerning knitters.

Taking a modern twist on traditional stitches to create contemporary pieces, the patterns available from £3 upwards include cardigans, hats, snoods, scarves and bags as well as cushions and throws. With a guide to the level of difficultly ranging from beginner to intermediate, each design includes simple instructions on how to create that sought-after couture piece as well as instructions on the wool to use.

Storie, said: “Throughout my career creating designs for the world’s catwalks I have come across many knitters who were looking for something different to get their ‘needles’ in to. So inspired by this eager knitting fraternity, I decided to make my designs accessible to as wide an audience as possible.

“This is the first time I have made a range of my patterns publicly available. Stimulated by Scottish heritage and design, the patterns provide any level of knitter with the ability to create their own luxury garment in their own home. I hope it will encourage everyone from knitwear enthusiasts to the intrigued amateur to pick up their knitting needles and create their own catwalk couture.”

Cathy Black, head of textiles, Scottish Enterprise, said: “Over the years Jo Storie has gained a great reputation for producing high quality designs for the catwalk, and we are delighted that she is launching her debut range of knitting patterns on-line which will make her designs easily accessible to a global audience for the first time.

“Scottish designs have never been in more demand and knitwear has seen a welcome resurgence across the world’s catwalks recently. It is important for designers to innovate and take advantage of the opportunities to grow their business, and this new venture is a prime example of how we can enthuse more people about Scottish knitwear.”

The new range of designs are now available on www.jostorie.com.
