Volume Control presents… A Belfast Music Week With MTV
A Plastic Rose, Rainy Boy Sleep, Silhouette, Axis Of, Colly Strings - they'll all be part of an event during Belfast Music Week with MTV, taking place on Monday, October 31 at The Ulster Hall in Belfast.
This will be an all-ages gig (14+) with a Halloween theme, starting at 7pm and costing just £6 per ticket. In association with Across The Line and Radio 1 Introducing, the night will be a live broadcast on ATL, BBC Radio Ulster, 8-10pm.
The night’s promoters are Volume Control, teenage entrepreneurs who present monthly gigs in the city and who are celebrating their Second Birthday at this event. They have already put on gigs with Ash and Duke Special, so this is the perfect way to usher in their third year, with some of the most inspiring, upcoming bands.
A Plastic Rose are based in Belfast, with connections to Sligo and Tyrone. They have already been active at the Leeds and Reading festivals and were headliners on the second stage at the Vital festival in August. Expect anthems and charisma. Rainy Boy Sleep is an exciting prospect from Stevie Martin, a young guitar-slinger and writer with attitude.
There is also creative worth in Silhouette, led by the keyboards and dynamic vocals of Shauna Tohill. There will be noise and attitude from Axis Of while Colly Strings deliver wit and crafty tunes. Surprise guests are also promised.
The gig is going to be the best Halloween party in Belfast and the organisers are looking for the most amazing fancy dress costumes.
Volume Control is assisted by the J P Getty Jr Charitable Trust.
Rory McConnell from Radio 1 says: “BBC Introducing in N.Ireland on Radio 1 is really proud to be giving some of the best in brand new and unsigned bands the opportunity to tread the boards of one of the UK's most prestigious music venues. Belfast Music Week is such an amazing celebration of just how vibrant the Music scene is here and it's great to celebrate it like this.”
Belfast Music Week - a celebration of local bands, industry, venues and our musical community - runs from 30 October to 5 November 2011 and will provide an exciting run-up to the MTV Europe Music Awards on November 6. Belfast Music Week is organised by Belfast City Council with support from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Tourism Ireland, Invest NI, Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure and the European Regional Development Fund under the European Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland 2007-2013.
