First time filmmakers wanted for 48 Hour Film Challenge!
Bradford City of Film is offering first time filmmakers from across Yorkshire the chance to take part in an exciting new film challenge. The 48 Hour Film Challenge is a brand new project, which aims to enthuse, engage, educate and inspire a new generation of filmmakers in Yorkshire.
The 48 Hour Film Challenge will take place in Bradford from 30th October – 1st November and will give people who have little or no experience in film making the chance to make a short film. They will be provided with basic film making equipment, a title for their film, and access to actors and locations. Then, with the help of experienced filmmakers, they will have just 48 hours to make a short film before watching it on the big screen at the National Media Museum. The 48 Hour Film Challenge is delivered by Fabric and Studio of the North on behalf of Bradford City of Film, with financial backing from Screen Yorkshire under it’s Film Toolkit programme.
To help first time filmmakers take part a series of workshops has been arranged across the region so that potential participants can find out what is involved and learn some of the basic skills they will need. They will learn about the various roles involved and the stages filmmakers go through including story development, casting, design, shooting, and editing and post production as well as learning about directing and working with actors with plenty of opportunities to have a go.
The workshops will take place at The Octagon, Hull on the 23rd September, the National Media Museum, Bradford on the 30th September and at the Showroom Cinema, Sheffield on the 1st October. While the workshops and Challenge are aimed at first time filmmakers from underrepresented groups in the film industry aged 18-30, filmmakers of all levels from around the region can apply to take part in the Challenge as either part of a team or as individuals.
