T-shirt design contests land in the UK
Part of the Creative Boom network, the initial idea for Boomtique came from the magazine's Facebook fan page where followers requested some mock design briefs to help add to their portfolios.
Speaking about the project, Katy Cowan - founder and editor of Creative Boom - said: "We suggested a tee design brief and the submissions came flooding in. More than we ever expected. We threw an idea out there that we should turn the whole contest into an actual shop. We got a really positive response and that's when Boomtique first came about."
Boomtique stages monthly t-shirt design contests, requesting submissions on a regular basis and then displaying new designs each month for the public to vote on. People can click on either 'Love it' or 'Hate it' to pick their favourites. The design with the most votes at the end of each month will win a £100 cash prize.
Katy continued: "I've always been a huge fan of graphic designed tees and have quite a collection myself. So to be able to launch our own shop is a fantastic opportunity and I'd really love to thank everyone for their support and encouragement over the past few months."
In future, Boomtique hopes to increase its cash prize value and offer an even greater opportunity to support creative freelancers, artists and designers.
Katy added: "Creative Boom was set up to support the creative industries, including businesses of all shapes and sizes. We hope Boomtique adds to that ethos whilst providing a fun addition to the Creative Boom network."
T-shirts at Boomtique are available for men and women and are of limited edition. To find out more check out www.boomtique.com where you can download the necessary Submission Guidelines and vote on the latest t-shirt designs.
