Bournemouth University is offering a short course in Creative Design for anyone involved in design, whether they are ‘creative’ or not.
The two-day course on 4-5 April, hosted by BU’s School of Design, Engineering & Computing, will give participants a chance to ‘get their hands dirty’ and become immersed in the creative process through painting, the media and other forms of creative activity .
Anyone involved in design - from novices to seasoned professionals – can use the course to gain new insights into the creative process as an activity and learn to initiate creative thinking and communication through various design methods.
The course will examine the potency of creative design based on the ‘experience’ of the design journey, from generating ideas and concepts to detailed designs. Participants can then reflect upon a portfolio of creative experience to take back to their working lives with that one idea that just might change their fortunes.
The course is led by Senior Lecturers Dr Bob Eves and Theo Roe who both have extensive academic and professional backgrounds in creative design. Dr Eves has experience of creative design research, methods and teaching in the areas of conceptual and detail design. Roe is a specialist in the mechanisms of creative activity for designers and known for the many successful student design projects he has led at BU.
“Creative design can make a real difference to the way in which companies evolve and adapt to a commercial world,” says Dr Eves. “A creative designer can find new ways to a vision of future design and products. This embodies the creative process, design methods, aesthetics and design communication.
“Anyone in any design business or industry, creative or not, should consider joining us for this Creative Design short course, from a novice needing to get started, to a professional who may be stuck and in need of a creative boost,” concludes Roe.
Bournemouth University’s Creative Design short course will be held on the University’s Talbot Campus on Monday and Tuesday, 4 and 5 April, 2011. The course costs £500 which will include refreshments and lunch on both days as well as materials to be used during the course.
