Shambala Festival launches Band Competition

Shambala Festival proudly introduces to you 'Sham-bands' - a competition to find bands who would love to play at this year's event.

A festival spokesperson said: "Our belief is that everyone who comes to Shambala, in whatever way shape or form, should have a direct input on how the event is run - the way it looks, feels and sounds. This year we are going even further then ever by introducing 'Sham-Bands'. This is an opportunity for all ticket buyers and crew to vote for the acts they think should be booked to perform this year. There are nine slots available in total - one a day on three different stages.

"Each band entering the competition will have specified the stage that they would like to play on. You will have one vote for each stage. Have a look, a listen and let your voice be heard! The voting period for all 2011 ticket buyers and crew lasts from 15th May until 15th June."

So before the voting starts Shambala want to hear from the talent - Calling all Musicians! For the next six weeks they are inviting musicians from all genres to enter with their musical submissions, with the hope of having the opportunity to perform in front of the warmest, friendliest crowd on the festival circuit.

A spokesperson added: "We will also give all successful acts: artist passes to the event, expenses, meal tickets, drinks, a feature on the website, a live recording, and certain fame and fortune (not guaranteed)!"
