‘Play for Today’ is latest addition to the Mediatheque at QUAD in Derby from December. This major new collection is dedicated to the groundbreaking and often controversial BBC drama series which attracted audiences of tens of millions in its heyday. The plays featured some of the most talented writers and directors whose careers were launched through their work on the series. The collection includes Dennis Potter’s Schmoedipus (1974), Mike Leigh’s black comedy Kiss of Death (1977), Alan Bleasdale’s Scully's New Year's Eve (1978), Czech dissident Václav Havel’s Protest (1981) and David Leland’s Psy-Warriors (1981) directed by Alan Clarke.
The BFI Mediatheque at QUAD is a ‘digital jukebox’ of over 2000 complete films and TV programmes from the BFI National Archive. The BFI Mediatheque at QUAD is FREE to use, by asking at QUAD Box office. The BFI Mediatheque at QUAD is open daily and customers can just drop in or, for a specific time slot, book in advance via the QUAD Box office. Opening times are from 11:00am to 8:00pm, and Sundays 12 noon to 8:00pm.
