Outsourcing Specialist Gives Profile More Umpf

The Sherwood Group, an outsourced solutions specialist with offices in London, Leeds and Sheffield, today announced it has appointed Leeds-based Umpf to handle its national PR whilst the company undergoes significant expansion across the UK – it is the agency’s sixth win since it was established in August.

Following a two-way pitch involving Propaganda, the company has tasked Umpf with raising its profile across traditional platforms whilst exploiting new channels of communication to drive candidate and client growth.

Sherwood recently appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as advisors and Nicholas Jeffrey, ex-chairman of United Industries, as non-executive Director as the company enters a period of strategic growth and development.

The company specialises in providing regional, national and international outsourced recruitment services for businesses in a range of industries covering engineering, social housing, cleaning, building maintenance, construction, civil engineering and utilities.

Jeremy Goldberg, Managing Director of The Sherwood Group, said: “We are thrilled to have appointed Umpf at a time when our operations and influence across the UK are both growing. The agency stood out for us – they understood our brand, growth strategy and exactly what we require from a communications perspective.

“As a business, we are known for our innovation in outsourcing solutions and Umpf have demonstrated a similar, creative approach to PR – we look forward to working together and seeing those ideas come to fruition.”

Adrian Johnson, Umpf Owner, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed by Sherwood to oversee its national PR at such a pivotal time.  Following 20 years of sustained growth, the company is ideally poised to significantly raise its profile across the UK and we are excited to assist in this.

“We will be utilising traditional forms of media and exploiting emerging channels of communication to drive the company’s rapidly expanding portfolio of candidates and clients whilst also positioning key spokespeople for industry comment.”

Umpf was established four months ago by former Lucre board director Adrian Johnson – this is the agency’s sixth new client win. For more information visit www.umpf.co.uk.
