Nurtural build new website for The Gurkha Welfare Trust

Nurtural, the full service direct marketing agency made up of a cooperative of partners, working with Totally Communications, the Web Design & Technology Specialists as its lead bid partner, has won a brief to devise a digital marketing strategy and design and build a new website for The Gurkha Welfare Trust.

Totally and Nurtual won a pitch against an undisclosed agency to land the management of the digital and design strategy. Another Nurtural partner, Gilliland Direct Marketing, has handled the Gurkha Welfare Trust’s donor recruitment and retention business for the past 13 years, during which time the donor base has grown nine-fold.

The Gurkha Welfare Trust provides welfare pensions for 10,000 Gurkha veterans who did not serve for long enough to qualify for an army pension, or their widows.  The Trust also provides medical and community aid to alleviate hardship and distress among Gurkha ex-servicemen and their families.

Nurtural Director Brian Gilliland said: “When the Gurkha Welfare Trust realised that digital was the natural and necessary next step in their marketing evolution, they knew they could rely on the Nurtural Consortium, and in Totally we have the perfect partner.   We chose Totally to work alongside us, as we were hugely impressed by the work they had already done for other charities.  What stood out for us is that they aren’t just designers, they are architects, and their focus is on the donor journey through the website, and the donor interaction.”

Totally and Nurtual together have been tasked with creating a website that is not only inspirational and informative but also highly responsive and easy to maintain in-house using the Content Management System TotallyCMS. The new website, which is due to go live on http://www.gwt.org.uk by the end of the year, will feature a video/photo/podcast gallery and an integrated fundraising platform. The website will also be designed to support the Gurkha Welfare Trust central UK fundraising, as well as regional branches promoting local activity. The site will facilitate donations online and Legacies pledges.

Toby Mason, Totally’s Client Services Director, said: “With our vast experience in the charity sector we’re going to create a stunning online proposition for a very worthwhile cause. The website will not only portray the history and values of the Gurkha Community but will also utilize video and audio to bring their amazing stories to life.”
