North West Director makes the Power 50 2009

Nick Porter, co-founder and director of Manchester-based creative communications specialist Fresh Group, has made the C&IT (Conference & Incentive Travel) Power 50 2009 – the annual influence index for event industry leaders. Nick appeared at number 30 and was the only person from the North West to be included in the roll call.

After more than 4,000 votes cast, the top 50 most influential people in the events industry were announced to a crowd of more than 100 of its experts at an interactive launch event in London on 15 December.

Having launched Fresh Group in 2004 with Julie Besbrode, Nick earned his place in the prestigious list after propelling Fresh to become the North West’s leading creative communications company.

The multi-award winning agency – which boasts a glittering array of clients, including McDonalds, Santander, AVON, New Look and M&S – has scooped a number of accolades since its launch just five years ago. These include, most recently, Events Company of the Year at the Marketing Industry Network Awards 2009.

This latest, highly prestigious accolade tops a hugely successful year for the company, which celebrated its fifth birthday in style by adding a further 10 clients to its portfolio and winning nearly £750,000 worth of new business during a global recession.  Fresh Group is now looking to recruit a further 10 employees to handle the ever-expanding workload.  Six recruits have already been appointed to join the company in January.

Nick commented: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have made number 30 in the Power 50, and to be flying the flag for the North West. It’s a true testament to the drive and determination that underpins the entire company.”

He added: “Breaking into the Power 50 shows that we are well on our way to achieving our goal of becoming the most successful full service communications group in the North of England.”

Fresh Group – which earlier this month added retail giant Morrisons to its ever-expanding client portfolio – specialises in eight distinct areas. These are: events, video, design, interactive, rewards, broadcast, advertising and the newly launched, Fresh Create.
