North East Band’s Britpop Influence

North Yorkshire based band The Conspirators’ latest single release features a guest performance from a 90’s britpop legend. Glenn Johansson, lead guitarist and songwriter from famous indie band Echobelly, plays the lead solo on the Bedale band’s new track ‘Jekyll & Hyde’, which is due out for release Monday 19th March 2012.

Echobelly sold almost 250,000 copies of their seminal album ‘On’, reached number 4 in the UK album chart and had numerous top 20 singles throughout the 1990s. Glenn was approached by the band to help them with recording their debut album and duly accepted the challenge.

"We feel very lucky to have had the chance to work with a musician as credible as Glenn. He has helped the band a great deal with help and advice and, of course, his incredible playing ability! His unique guitar style has certainly added something special to our new song," said John Gillies, Conspirators guitarist.

The song ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ is an upbeat acoustic tune about someone with a split personality. The band are hoping it will do well following the success of their last single ‘Bubbles’, which reached number 3 in the UK Text Chart.

The Conspirators are holding a launch party to celebrate the release of their album. It will be held in their hometown of Bedale, at the Riverside Club venue, on Saturday 17th March. For more information on how to download the single visit the band’s website www.theconspirators.co.uk.
