Manchester web agency launch 'Single of the Decade'
'Single of the Decade' is a brand new website created exclusively by Manchester web agency Cahoona to try and discover which music singles internet users consider to be the best of the Noughties.
Set to launch this Friday, the site was first dreamt up by a few music bloggers and DJs, along with web agency Cahoona, in early 2009 whilst sat in a bar talking about the most memorable singles of the past decade.
With a nod in the direction of their favourite online music sources, the team decided to put together a massive collaborative poll, allowing music fans to tell them about their favourite singles and provide a platform for others to rediscover tracks they might have forgotten.
To take part, visit www.singleofthedecade.com. It’s simple to get involved. Simply suggest a track for inclusion or vote on a track that already exists!
You can also listen to the tracks through Spotify and Last.FM links on each page, and discuss your thoughts with others in the comments. And of course, users can share the tracks through popular social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook.
“All music fans love lists, and to many, the opportunity to help compile a selection of the best of the last 10 years is too good to miss,” said co-founder Jon Grant. “We want to try and connect with online music fans and get them to tell us what they really like."
“We’re also tipping our hats in the direction of our favourite music websites, like the Hype Machine and Last.FM,” adds fellow co-founder Ben Holden. “Websites like these have changed the way music is consumed in the last decade, so it’s nice to produce a site which is comparable in functionality.”
