The first ever London Photo Festival last month in Borough was a great success, offering the opportunity to 30 amateur, enthusiasts and semi-professional photographers to exhibit their work.
Many visitors of all ages and nationalities came to appreciate the wide range of both photographic styles and subject matter. The Private View alone had more than 300 guests, eagerly awaiting the announcement of Best in Show by Shirley Read (author and lecturer in photography at Citylit, London). The lucky winner was Karolin Schwab whose winning photo was later sold to a collector from Stockholm, who was delighted to have found a new talent on his travels.

Runners up Nicola Albon (The Kiss & The Swimmer) and Sanja Hurem (Stranger & In My World ) were also announced at the Private View and were selected for among other reasons, the way their photos complemented each other as a body of work.
Having been open to the public all day, Friday evening saw a large group of keen photographers enjoying two fascinating talks from Carole Evans of sponsor Photofusion and Sal Shuel, copyright expert both of which prompted much discussion.
The f/Factor TM, as voted for by the public over the three days, was won on Saturday by Nicholas Goodden’s photo ‘Anatomica’ with a clear margin.

Co-organised by the founders of Abitoffthemapp Photography and HCK Photography, the London Photo Festival already has a large amount of interest for the 2012 festival and may expand into biannual Spring and Autumn show. The next London Photo Festival will start with a Private View on the 16th May 2012, and the festival will be open to the public from the 17th - 19th May 2012.
