Just So Festival has launched a whole new approach to festival programming with the collaboration of its audience via the exciting new Artmob application.
Last year festival organizers Sarah Bird and Rowan Hoban successfully predicted that the real magic of the event would be created through the energy and enthusiasm the audience brought to it. So now they are going one step further and asking their audience to participate, curate, entertain, sing, play and dance like never before.
Artmob is an online application that brings people together to create their own cultural events.
Trevelyan Wright one of the developers of Artmob said “We’ve been working with the Just So Festival to get the audience coming more involved in making parts of the festival happen. They’re getting together to form an orchestra and premiere a new piece of music; provide the acts for the Just So cabaret; and staging their own events on the Just So stage. All this is being created on the Just So website, powered by the Artmob application.”
Festival Director Sarah Bird said, “We always wanted the festival to be about families joining in, singing, dancing and playing together in the woods. In 2010 we asked our festival goers to participate in an opera, to play singing games, to paint and dance together but we think that in 2011 Artmob will give the audience that chance to be much more creative – we know they’re a talented bunch and can’t wait to see what they come up with. We’ve created some great programming from midnight feasts, stargazing workshops, storytelling, sand sculpture, digital photography and animation workshops, comic book drawing, poetry and best-selling authors events, so now it’s over to our festival goers big and small to see what they think we’re missing or need a bit more of. ”
Just So Festival is an award winning family festival which takes place on the 19th-21st August 2011 in the Staffordshire Peak District, catering exclusively for families it hosts the best in family arts activity for a weekend of creative and magical adventures in a beautiful woodland landscape.
