Jelly on the menu for UK small businesses

The huge phenomenon of Jelly is expected to take the UK by storm following the first Jelly convention in the world, which takes place in Ironbridge, the global birthplace of industry, on 25 March this year.

Jelly is an informal coworking event where home workers, freelancers and home-based business operators get together for a day in pre-arranged venues to work, join forces and exchange tips and advice.

The BIG Jelly is expected to attract up to 300 delegates who will gather to hear from nationally renowned speakers, take part in powerful breakout sessions and experience a Jelly event.

Jelly is massive in the US. The brainchild of two creative entrepreneurs from New York City, it enables business owners and professional freelancers to beat commercial isolation and work together in central locations. There are now groups right across the US and hundreds across the globe.

Jelly came to the UK in 2009 and already 50 groups are up and running, with new ones starting every week. The BIG Jelly will be the first chance for all these UK Jelly fans to come together and the event is expected to inspire the launch of many more groups. The timing is perfect - as seen in the US, Jelly attendees find it much easier to innovate and grow, they share ideas and contacts and find solutions to business problems, all of which helps them to deal far better with the economic recession.

Judy Heminsley, Jan Minihane and Fay Easton are the three Jelly pioneers who have organised this national event and hope to see Jelly become accessible to every small business in the UK.

“The BIG Jelly will be an amazing chance for small business owners across the country to meet and exchange ideas,” says Jan, founder of the UK Jelly website www.uk-jelly.org.uk, where information and booking for The BIG Jelly is available.

“Delegates will also find out more about how successful Jelly groups operate and how easy it is to set up a Jelly in their own areas. We're also expecting economic development professionals and government advisors - all keen to understand more about the Jelly phenomenon and what it could mean for the revival of the UK economy.”

The BIG Jelly takes place on Friday 25 March 2011 9am – 5pm at Q Hotels, Ironbridge Gorge, Telford, Shropshire.
