Purple, leading recruitment consultant for the UK creative sector, is to launch a new division called Purple Social.
This new platform is designed to deal specifically with recruitment briefs in the social media space following two years of exponential growth in the area, and an ever-increasing demand from Purple’s agency clients for social media expertise.
Purple Social will work alongside Purple’s established digital team but will focus on briefs for roles which range from blogger outreach specialists and community managers through to more strategic senior social media roles including social media directors and heads of social. Dave Finlay, consultant at Purple will lead the Purple Social team. He has seen a notable rise in the number of social media briefs in recent years and they come from a range of different agencies including full service creative agencies and digital specialists but also increasingly from media and PR agencies.
Dave said: “Whereas in the past, agencies would outsource their social media briefs and then white-label the specialists they used, we now see a trend towards agencies setting up their own social media teams in-house.”
Toby Thwaites, director at Purple said: “We can no longer pretend that social media is peripheral to other roles in creative and media agencies. It is very much central to marketing strategies across the board, with agencies having to incorporate the use of social media into the majority of their integrated campaigns. So great is the demand for social media expertise, that we are responding by providing our agency clients with greater access to social media candidates and better advice on how to employ and establish in-house social media teams, or use freelancers with social media experience.”
