Industry and academia join forces in Birmingham

McCann Erickson has joined forces with Aston Business School to support its marketing degree programme throughout the 2010/2011 academic year and help to shape the industry minds of the future.

Members of McCann Erickson’s senior management team will deliver a series of special practitioner lectures to support the business school’s core marketing modules and deliver the latest industry insight from the experts. Topics will include business marketing trends, branding and how to run a new business pitch.

Keith Glanfield, Foundation for Management Education Fellow, at Aston Business School, said: “We strive to find the balance between marketing theory and the latest thinking from industry leaders, so it is essential that we continue to forge good links with the local business community. We’re really pleased that McCann Erickson, one of the world’s leading agencies, is so supportive of the next generation of marketing practitioners coming through Aston Business School.”

“We worked with McCann’s earlier this year to deliver a programme of business seminars and we are really pleased to develop this partnership further to include support for our marketing degree programme. It is essential for our students to understand how they can apply theory learnt at Aston Business School into the working world and this partnership helps us to do that.”

Nick Oppenheimer, head of planning, McCann Erickson, said: “It is really important to McCann Erickson that we do all that we can to develop the talent of tomorrow’s practitioners. Many of Aston Business School’s marketing students go on to fly the flag for the thriving creative and communications industry in the Midlands and we want to do all we can to nurture excellence.”
