ICE welcomes new Director of Strategic Communications
Award-winning UK marketing and communications company ICE has appointed Gemma Newman as its new Director of Strategic Communications.
Gemma has extensive experience of project and programme management and transformation delivery across the public sector and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to ICE’s growing client base, which spans Central Government, Local Authorities, Primary Care Trusts and NHS Trusts across the country.
Most recently, Gemma has taken a key strategic role as lead advisor, delivering Academy programmes on behalf of a number of local authorities. Gemma’s wide-ranging experience also encompasses roles at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister working on the Gershon review and international management consultancy Mouchel, including a stint in the United Arab Emirates offering strategic advice and support for the Abu Dhabi Education Council.
Gemma’s new position will see her driving forward ICE’s newly formed Strategic Communications division, which encompasses project management, public relations, marketing, and events and exhibitions.
She says, “For me, the three principles of ‘vision, strategy and delivery’ neatly sum up what Strategic Communications is all about. Marketing and communications activities can often be misunderstood or viewed as an afterthought, but I’m committed to demonstrating the far-reaching benefits and impact a strategic approach to communications can have.
"Our strategic communications practitioners have a wide range of specialist knowledge and I’m passionate about blending these skills to drive forward flexible, tailored campaigns which make a measurable difference to our clients.”
ICE’s Chief Executive, Stuart Jackson, adds, “I believe that Gemma will prove to be an invaluable and timely addition to our 50-strong team. Her wide-ranging experience around strategic leadership, programme management and transformational delivery will be a fantastic asset as we push forward through 2010 and beyond.”
