HSBC Global Design Manager joins ThinkBDW as Creative Director

Leading creative agency, ThinkBDW, has recruited Michael Rance to head up its creative team at its headquarters in Colchester. Michael will work closely with Tony Sikand-Parada, the Creative Director in their London office.

Rance joins from HSBC Private Bank where as Global Design Manager he had responsibility for all creative aspects of the Bank’s offer, from adverting, the public web site and events to literature and design strategy.

Rance’s recruitment comes as ThinkBDW continues its impressive growth of recent years.

Managing Director Rob Day: “The company has gone through a period of considerable growth over the last three years in what is still a subdued housing market in the UK. With a growing list of fantastic clients, we feel it important to keep pushing ourselves creatively. We’re pleased to have Michael on-board bringing his experience to an already exceptional creative team.”

Since leaving college in 1990 Michael has worked both in the UK and mainland Europe. In 1994 he joined the Brussels agency Pineapple Design developing his branding skills with the likes of P&G and Coca-Cola. Michael returned to the UK in 2000 to join Landor Associates where he had the opportunity to work on projects across all areas of expertise, from Brand Engagement and Environments to Corporate and Brand Identity. This experience brought with it industry accolades from the likes of D&AD, LIAA, and Design Week. Michael left Landor in 2009 to take on the mantle as Global Design Manager of HSBC Private Bank where in addition to his in-house design team he worked closely JWT, Sapient Nitro, The Brand Union, Fitch and the Clearing.

Commenting on his appointment Michael said: “I am delighted to be joining such a great team as ThinkBDW and look forward to building on the success of the last twenty-five years. As market leaders, companies like ThinkBDW need to always to be developing their services and creatively pushing themselves and their clients. The scope of our offer and my brief encompasses all of the company’s disciplines: advertising, digital, signage, touch screen and a full design service covering strategic identity creation though to brochures and marketing suite creation and production. I’m really looking forward to sinking my teeth in!”

ThinkBDW is part of The Mission Marketing Group, one of the UK’s largest marketing services provider with over 700 staff based in 14 offices across the country.
