Geldof to Receive Honorary Degree From UCA

Bob Geldof is to be awarded an honorary degree from the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), it has been announced.

Geldof who lives near Faversham in Kent will receive a Master of Arts at the UCA Canterbury graduation ceremony on the 22nd of July.

UCA said it wanted to honour his contribution to the arts and humanitarian work.

Dianne Taylor, Pro Vice-Chancellor at the university, said: "As a broadcaster and musician, Bob Geldof's contribution to the creative arts has been substantial.

"He will be an inspiration to our graduating students."

She added: "As a Kent resident he has been tireless in promoting education in the local area, opening schools and supporting local campaigns."

UCA has also presented honorary degrees to filmmaker Parminder Vir, ceramicist Edmund de Waal, designer Pradyumna Vyas and Editor of Vogue Alexandra Shulman.
