As part of their programme of free music seminars, Tuned On, Punch Records will host ‘A Musician’s Digital Image’ at Symphony Hall, Birmingham on 29 March. Looking at the rise of social media, the seminar will discuss how musicians can use the online world to boost their image.
Led by Ghetts and Amelia Ideh, the seminar will discuss why everyone has turned to Facebook, Twitter and MySpace to promote music, and the importance these networks have on the music industry.
Ghetts, who has over two million profile views on MySpace, and Amelia Ideh, who runs the music and lifestyle blog Put Me On It, will discuss the importance of the digital age for musicians looking to build their image. They will guide audience members through the most effective ways to utilise social networks and build a strong online presence. There will also be an in-depth discussion around the relevance of the online world to artists and organisations, and whether traditional media can sometimes be a more appropriate approach.
Tickets for ‘A Musician’s Digital Image’ are free but spaces are limited. To book a place, contact sohie@punch-records.co.uk.
The Tuned On series is led by Birmingham-based Punch Records, an ideas-led organisation that concentrates on three large scale touring of music and art projects; its flagship festival BASS; and education, training and outreach. The final seminar in the programme will take place on 26 April looking at ‘Islam and Women in Music’.
