A blossoming exhibition opens at Ferrers Gallery on 21stJuly with shimmering jewellery and craft displayed on their middle exhibition floor. Seven jewellers are taking part in an exclusive showcase Feather and Flower alongside a hand picked selection of craft makers working on a bird and floral them.
A host of new work to Ferrers Gallery sees a flux of East Midlands based artists including mosaics by Julie Vernon (Nottinghamshire), prints by Helen Rhodes (Leicestershire), mixed media pictures by Josephine O’Leary (Leicestershire) and textiles by Alex McQuade (Leicestershire) plus other works by British artists and makers.
Delicate bird inspired jewellery by Jemima Lumley, Helen Shere and Emma Ginnever in simple and elegant styles will delight. Petals and pearls by Lorna Henderson will shimmer in the seasons’ colours. Also on show are Jessica Ayre, Anna McDade and Dagmar Korecki all whom bring refreshing and distinctive styles of jewellery to the show. All makers pay great attention to details and produce contemporary and insightful works.
Ally Thorne, Ferrers Gallery Manager said: "Initially just a jewellery showcase we decided to extend the theme to a few invited craft makers as there is just so much beautiful work being created on this popular theme. We hope are visitors are inspired by the displays and go away with a summery feeling.”
