Ethical Fashion Label Launches in Bristol
Charlie Boots is the latest name in ethical fashion this week after a new label was launched in Bristol.
The label “Charlie Boots” is the brainchild of Charlie Harrison, a local fashion designer who creates original, stylish womenswear from ethically sourced materials which are then fabricated to a very high standard by a small team of talented seamstresses in the Bristol area.
The ethics of the fashion industry have been thrust under the spotlight recently after a series of exposes uncovered the true cost of high street fashion in relation to the environment and the human cost of the workforce needed to produce the high volume/low quality garments it demands.
Charlie Harrison’s vision is clear: “I want to show the fashion world that you do not have to compromise when it comes to style and quality when the ethical history of your clothes is important to you. I believe that people will love my clothes for their innovative designs and for the care and attention to detail with which they are made: the fact that they are produced from ethically sourced materials and made by people being paid properly for their expertise is simply the way modern fashion should be. As consumers, we shouldn’t expect anything less.”
Charlie Boots offers its customers an exciting range of day and evening wear that utilises Fairtrade fabrics, re-claimed fabrics, organic cottons, vintage fabrics (such as 1930’s ‘feedsacks’ and kimonos from the '50s onwards) and bamboos. Each design is limited to only 10 items and due to the rarity of many of the fabrics, some are complete one-offs. To find out more visit Charlieboots.com.
