Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show Friday 19th and Saturday 20th March The Edinburgh Corn Exchange
This evening, Edinburgh’s hottest young things will be strutting their stuff on the catwalk and pushing creative boundaries to the limit. The capital will once again be playing host to one of the most successful student run fashion shows in Europe - The Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show – sponsored by Citylets.
The vision for this year's show comes from Creative Director, Letty McLaren, who promises a ‘surrealist spectacle of magical reality’, featuring live music, dancers and magicians, amidst the clothing modelled by 30 of Edinburgh’s most striking students.
The VIP night held tomorrow evening will feature an auction held by a Christie’s auctioneer, with lots including luxury holidays to both South Africa and Mauritius, a surprise from Tilda Swinton and signed Harry Potter merchandise.
Media publications including The List, Tatler, Vogue Online and The Skinny have all been electrified by past shows, with the Sunday Times describing the event as a ‘fantastic night’. The organisers are a committee made up entirely of enterprising university students who have, over the last 6 months, faced and conquered the adversary of the recession and are now set to make the 2010 show another stunning success.
The 2009 event raised an impressive £60,000 for Maggies Cancer Caring Centres, The Scottish MND Association and Cavernoma Alliance UK, where the donation made saved the charity from closure. To date, ECFS has donated nearly a quarter of a million pounds to charity and having previously featured clothes from a whole host of influential designers, ECFS 2010 promises even more for the discerning fashionista, the smart city slicker and everyone in-between.
This year, the Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show will be supporting Marie Curie, The Scottish Association for Mental Health and Poppy Scotland, all three of which have projects planned for Edinburgh in 2010.
