Double success at the BAFTAS for Blue Zoo

Blue-Zoo Productions, one of Britain’s leading animation studios, is celebrating double success at the coveted BAFTAS Children Awards which took place on Sunday 28th November at The London Hilton, Park Lane.

Blue-Zoo Productions had been nominated in three categories for Short Form, Learning Primary and Interactive. Success was seen in both the Short Form and Interactive categories.

Having previously been nominated for Short Form, Blue-Zoo were thrilled to be picking up such a prestigious award with ‘My Favourite Bedtime Story’. This animation had seen Blue-Zoo produce a series of shorts for Claire Norowzian at Nickelodeon. The animation was directed by Helen Arntsen and in total 15 episodes have been produced for the series. ‘My Favourite Bedtime Story’ competed for the award against other productions including BBC Bite size GCSE Geography and The World Cup Stories.

Cbeebies ‘Zingzilla’s’ stole the show in the ‘Interactive’ category after beating The Secret Dancer, Home Sheep Home and The Well. Blue-Zoo originally produced all of the animated idents for the ‘Zingzilla’s’ TV series and was then commissioned by Helen Stephens and the in-house Cbeebies Interactive team to work with Plug-In Media to create the animated characters for the website. The project was run in-house at Blue-Zoo by Tom Hales.

Credit should also go to Adam Shaw; Joint Managing Director and Head of Production at Blue-Zoo for his nomination in the ‘Learning Primary’ category for his work on ‘Alphablocks’ for Magic Lantern. This category was won by L8R Youngers.

The presenter of The BAFTAS Children’s Award 2010 was children’s TV presenter Barney Harwood.
