The Crafts Council is supporting 11 UK makers to show at Talente in Munich from the 16-22 March 2011. Talente is an annual showcase and competition for new designers and makers and takes place during the International Trade Fair for the Skilled Trades in Munich.
It was established in 1980 and is one of Europe’s most prestigious showcases for emerging talent in the areas of design, technology and craft.
Talente organisers collaborate with international institutions, academies, universities and arts and crafts organisations from across the world to select by jury exciting new designers and makers. Featuring in Talente exposes these makers to a wider European audience.
The Crafts Council UK has once again acted as mentor for the British makers selected – which it has done since 2000.
Eleanor Bolton’s playful over-sized textile jewellery, Abigail Brown’s unique metal wire birds, Egle Petrauskaite’s vibrant 3D wallpaper and Li-Chu Wu’s intricate paper jewellery are just some of the pieces that will be taken to Talente 211.
The full list of UK exhibitors is as follows;
Farrah Al-Dujaili (jewellery), Eleanor Bolton (jewellery), Abigail Brown (silverware), Madeleine Harris (jewellery), Kathryn Hinton (silverware), Rosanna Martin (ceramics), Egle Petrauskaite (printed textiles), Idun Sira (ceramics), Li-Chu Wu (jewellery), Emma Yeo (multimedia textiles) and Xiaorui Zhang (jewellery).
