Cool T-shirt Design launches to showcase the best of the web
We had to tell you about Simon Marshall - a web designer and front-end developer from Manchester who works by day on a number of high profile e-commerce sites and has recently launched Cool T-shirt Design - a site that picks out the best in t-shirt design from across the web.
Speaking of the project, Simon said: "Cool T-shirt Design has been a great exercise for me to use the skills I have acquired over the years whilst learning more in the process. The design, front-end coding, Wordpress development, SEO, writing and now link-building have widened my skills as an all-round web designer and developer.
"I also love the way T-shirts can be used as a vehicle of expression - you can make a real statement about your personal tastes with your choices of T-shirt and I find so much creativity within this field. There is also a real sense of community present within the industry with many independent companies and artists willing to share links and help with advice.
"I hope to build on the positive feedback I have had so far and hopefully start to showcase artists and stores with their own individual pages - I get quite a buzz from giving new designers and stores additional exposure."
In fact, Simon recently added our own t-shirt design contest and shop, Boomtique to his list of recommended t-shirt shops, which is how we initially discovered Cool T-shirt Design. He also added Murray Somerville's Up in the Air design to the store, picking it out as one of his favourite designs.
Simon added: "Ideally I would like to create my own line of Tshirts too and promote and sell them through www.cooltshirtdesign.co.uk whilst continuing to make the site a central resource for cool T-shirt design."
Simon has been working as a web designer for the last 10 years after completing a Masters Degree at Salford University in Creative Technology in 1999. He has always had a passion for art and design and originally wanted to be an illustrator, so he's always browsing the internet looking for cool designs and inspiration.
