Call for artists - Space Made Live

Ok so here it is...the plan is to transform The Arthouse into exactly that - A house full of fantastic art. That's where you come in!

Whatever your specialism, whatever your background, think big ideas and big impact. You can choose to respond or not to respond to the The Arthouse character and history. You can create custom work for any of the spaces or submit existing work that particularly reflects your talents. Each proposal should be tailored to fit one of the spaces. There are no restrictions as to artforms, specialisms or materials. We welcome video work aswell as there will be a showreel continuously running work throughtout the two days and during the event. There will also be a special area in the large main hall for large installations.

We want you to use the space! You are not restricted to simply hanging work on walls. Most spaces have the opportunity to suspend and hang work from ceilings so think outside of the box.

We ask that the work be assembled and/or installed during Friday 11th June and disassembled and removed on the evening of Sunday 13th June. (It is very important that you are avaliable to carry out this work on these dates. If you are chosen to participate and are not available on these dates you will have to organise someone to do this for you). Your work is your responsibility. You will have until 7th May to submit your ideas and on 23rd April  there will be an open-doors day when you can visit, view and walk around the space and meet the people behind the idea (from 10am-4pm). If you are unavailable on this day and still wish to see the spaces, please call us on 0141 226 1223 to arrange a viewing appointment.

Following the submissions process we will contact you before the 14th May to let you know if you have been successfull. This then gives you 4 weeks to create and organise your work for installation on the 11th June.

We would also like to invite any people who have a background/interest in artists' films to document the transformation of the building in an inventive way, to be premiered at the event on Saturday 12th . If you are interested in this specifically please send us examples of your previous work and any other relevant info about your practice.
