The Bush Theatre in London, with the support of the Jerwood Charitable Foundation, has launched the first online play publishing website at Jerwood Space.
The Bush Theatre , a world-famous home for new plays and playwrights based in Shepherd's Bush, has developed 'Bushgreen' - a new site that provides playwrights, in the early stages of their careers, with the opportunity to publish their plays online and give practitioners access to plays, both to read and produce.
The site can also be used by producers, directors, actors, publishers and agents to talk to each other, share ideas and provide feedback.
By publishing their work on Bushgreen playwrights can find an international audience for their work. Many writers started their careers by sending the Bush Theatre a play, including Catherine Johnson (Mamma Mia!), David Eldridge (Under The Blue Sky, Festen), Helen Edmundson (Coram Boy) and Philip Ridley (The Fastest Clock In The Universe). The Bush literary department receives more than a thousand scripts a year, and reads every one. Bushgreen already has over 150 plays available to download.
