23red appoints new business director

Brand communications agency 23red in London has appointed Joanna Stepp as its new business director. The move follows the appointment of managing director Tom Huxtable from CHI & Partners in May, and represents the continued strengthening of the 23red senior management team.

Stepp will head up the new business and marketing offering with a focus on the private sector. A truly integrated marketer with a digital weighting, Stepp has played both sides of the field with experience both agency and client side.

Joining from Australian agency Conceive and Convert Pty Ltd, a company that she launched and built herself, Stepp brings an international flavour to 23red. Here she garnered many notable wins and successes, including the launch of the Myki card (Melbourne’s Oyster card equivalent).

Prior to Conceive and Covert, Stepp was marketing manager at National Express, moving on to join travel brand V/Line. She then became head of marketing and communications at the Department of Transport Ticketing Authority.

Stepp joins 23red from late August.

Tom Huxtable, managing director at 23red, said: “Joanna’s a fantastic hire for us bringing a huge wealth of experience, cutting edge thinking and determination. Despite a range of offers she chose 23red and we’re delighted. Her ambition and aspirations match ours perfectly.’

Stepp added: “I immediately clicked with what 23red are about; they’re exactly my kind of agency - not content to simply do what everyone else is doing they’re always looking to push the boundaries. I’m hugely excited about taking the 23red offering out to market.”
