Illustrator & Animator Natalie Hughes

Posted by Katy Cowan in Lookbook on Thursday 12th August 2010. Tagged with Featured.

Natalie Hughes is an illustrator and animator from Hertfordshire but currently living in Norfolk.

She graduated in 2009 with a 1st BA Hons Illustration & Animation degree from the University of Gloucestershire. She loves painting cute, quirky animals who live in colourful landscapes. She really likes the different patterns found in the natural world, so is always trying to capture this.

Natalie's always had a soft spot for the more strange wildlife like Tapirs, Sloths and Narwhals. Anything a bit bizarre like that has always fascinated her.

Character design is her biggest passion and she tries to strike a balance between decorative illustration as well as simple and endearing narratives and stories. She aslo tries to put her sense of humour and imagination to use all the time!

Natalie's illustrations are created using acrylics, pencils, painted wood, collected textures and a bit of Photoshop. She likes to design illustrated accessories too, such as badges, soft toys and greeting cards.

At the moment she's working freelance, designing greetings cards and illustrating her own children's book.
