Helen Stead is a Visual Arts student from the University of Salford. Her work encompasses a variety of practices including Lomography, Film & Alternative Photography, Mixed Media and Fiber Art. Her work is inspired by the subject of nostalgia, bitter-sweet childhood memories and a closer look into a personal family history. A collection of old family photographs, vintage wallpapers, albums, letters, books, telegrams and postcards were gathered to provide the foundation for her work. Poignant imagery was produced and a darker subtext in the form of cut out text was added to form juxtaposition within the pieces and to help provide a narrative surrounding the images.
