Zanny Mellor is a freelance illustrator and artist based in London. She's studied art foundation at Brighton City College and moved onto UWE, Bristol, completing an Illustration degree in 2009.
Her illustration work is all hand drawn, painted with acrylics and then digitally collaged.
Zanny takes her inspiration from optimism, and this is reflected in her bright and refreshing palette. Her paintings are created with a fascination for architecture and human movement around urban area, documenting the flow of pedestrian and traffic energy using mark-making.
The above piece is called Piccadilly Circus, and has been created in biro, acrylic and indian ink. Zanny comments, "This is my first exploration of Piccadilly Circus! I was fascinated by the hundreds of layers of information that could be documented - the human, pigeon and traffic movement, combined with the history of the location and the current modern perception of it, a centre of culture and consumption."
