Describe yourself in three words…

Outgoing, Ambitious, Outspoken

Tell us about your background…

Growing up was not really plain sailing as I moved around a lot. As a child, I was not very academic and I struggled at school as the teachers put me down, so it encouraged me to strive to be bigger and better.  I came out of school with only three GCSEs, but was determined to get into college.

I managed to blag my way onto a BTEC diploma in graphic design. There I learnt to channel my creativeness. I passed college and wanted to go into further education.

I got into Southampton Solent University studying graphic design, where for three years I got my head down and just cracked on with graphics. In my eyes, I was at university to get my degree. I graduated with a 1st in BA honours.

I then landed a job at a company called Base One. I owe them a lot for believing in me and my designs. As I sent out countless emails (about 250 to be exact) to different companies regarding a job and Base One gave me an interview and opened up a job opportunity for me.

I have now been at this company for over a year and I have already learnt so much. It's great that I'm now getting paid for doing something i love.

Tell us about what you do!

I am a Print based designer that tries to push the boundaries of design.

Who or what inspires you?

Everything!

What has been your proudest moment so far?

Completing my degree.

And your greatest project?

My greatest project was Naming the Dead. This was about the 176 soldiers who lost their lives in Iraq last year. The project was designed to give a better understanding to who the soldiers were as well as covering issues relating to conspiracies of why the UK went to war. The research for this project was gathered from a varity of sources, including interviews from soldiers and their families. It was a long old journey that took over six months and in that time it totally changed my perspective on the way  the big cheese runs society.

What do you hope to be doing in five years time?

Getting the first foundations for running my own business!

When you aren’t being creative, you are…?

At the gym or out and about trying to keep myself entertained. Although you never can shut off from being a designer because everywhere you go you're always analysing every bit of design, whether it's a logo or a stupid flyer, you can never switch off.

Anything exciting ongoing or in the pipeline?

Collaborated with an old friend now running a magazine that one day we hope to be successful.

Finally, any words of wisdom to other creative people?

Live life to the full and don’t let anyone stand in your way!
