Location: London, UK

Describe yourself in three words…

Creative, Everywhere, Engaged.

Tell us about your background…

I grew up in SARF east Londinium, where I attended a posh girls' school which I hated. I also lived for periods in California and Sweden.

Tell us about what you do!

I run a website magazine called Amelia's Magazine and I have just launched my first book, Amelia's Anthology of Illustration, from Amelia's House.

What inspired you to launch your own business?

I don't really like being told what to do by other people and thought I would have more freedom to get my ideas across if I did my own thing.

Who or what inspires you?

Anything and everything - I am inspired all the time, I am constantly taking photos and remembering ideas for later.

What has been your proudest moment so far?

seeing my first issue of Amelia's Magazine in print, waaaay back in 2004.

And your greatest project?

All of it - the website though seems to have grown into a beast all of its own, with a life that I can barely control!

What do you hope to be doing in five years time?

Living somewhere lush and green, being creative, and surrounded by people that I love.

When you aren’t being creative, you are…?

Taking action against climate change - you might find me taking photos at any number of creative and innovative direct actions. or I might be calling a ceilidh with my band.

Anything exciting ongoing or in the pipeline?

I want to make my website work even better, but I've only just launched the book so that is going to take up a fair bit of time for awhile. I'd like to do some travelling next year - take my bike and visit sustainable communities around the world.

Finally, any words of wisdom to other creative people?

Never doubt your own idiosyncratic creativity, and keep going until you find the niche that is right for you!
