Interview: Lisa Doubleyou

Lisa Doubleyou is a UK based artist and freelance photographer.Born in 1986, she enjoys nothing more than sitting in a cafe with her sketchpad and if you can't find her there then she'll be in her studio getting messy with paint.

Documentary photography and self-portrature also play a big role within her photography. Lisa has photographed many well-known artists and musicians such as Jon Burgerman and Eric Clapton.

We spent five minutes chatting to Lisa about her work...

Tell us about yourself – who are you and what do you do?

I am an artist of various mediums, a coffee drinker and a book/art collector.

What are you currently up to? Are there any exciting projects ongoing?

I’m currently preparing new work for my website www.lisadoubleyou.com and exploring video art which is something I’ve been interested in for a while. New exhibitions are currently being arranged while new projects are evolving - I am very excited for 2011!

Who or what inspires you?

My mind and emotions make me paint and people around me inspire me to sketch. My favourite days are those sat in a coffee shop with a book or newspaper and of course my sketch pad, people watching – imaging what their life is like, their dreams and thoughts. My imagination runs away with me, I like that.

When you’re not working, what do you like to do?

When I’m not actually working I find myself thinking about working, I have a notebook I carry with me which holds vital information on what needs to be done. It also has random thoughts and ideas, I’m a total lyric/quote whore so anything can set me off at anytime – I’m like a creative bomb ticking away.

Finally, what tips or advice could you give to other creatives, just starting out?

Keep inspired!
