Weird Science takes over Dr Sketchy Manchester

Dr Sketchy Manchester, the cult alternative life drawing school is staging a Scientific Sketchorama. Taking place as part of the Manchester Science Festival the event will give sketchers a chance to draw Iona, the the mindblowing contortionist from Britain's Got Talent and the powerhouse that is body builder Paul George.

The evening will also feature award winning science communicator David Price who will talk about the biology of muscles, tendons and bones and what happens to the human body when it's pushed to its limits.

Paul George has been body building for over 25 years and has won too many titles to mention. They include EFBB Overall British Champion and WPF World Middleweight.

Contionist Iona Luvsandorj made a big impression on Britain's Got Talent and has the world record for holding the jaw dropping Marinelli bend.

The sketchorama takes place on Sunday, October 30, from 7-9.30pm. As usual there'll be plenty of drawing challenges, activities and fabulous prizes to won courtesy of sponsors What Katy Did and Fred Aldous.

Dr Sketchy is a world wide phenomenon and has spread to over one hundred cities around the globe. It has taken place in some of the world’s most prestigious venues from the Sydney Opera House to New York's Museum of Modern Art.

The event is an original take on traditional life drawing classes and sees everyone from burlesquers to body builders invited along for students to draw.

It was started by Brooklyn based artist and illustrator Molly Crabapple.

The Scientific Sketchorama takes place at MOSI, doors open at 6.30pm and drawing starts at 7pm. Tickets are £13.50. For more information visit www.drsketchy.com/branch/manchester
